Info
The Diva 2 is out to get what she wants, and she wants to win! We unashamedly admit we designed her to beat the best of the competition. That bar is way high and ever moving, and the Diva 2 has been a few years in development. She’s a product of the BGD Performance Quest project, which has involved huge amounts of numerical analysis and exploration of new ideas from our young R&D team. The computers have been smoking! Though the project and the quest for more performance will never end, we are confident the Diva 2 is ready to stand up against the competition and set a benchmark in her class.
We have worked very hard to maximise the performance of the small size Diva 2. Through a dedicated load test and months of fine-tuning and trimming, with our R&D team and also in numerous competitions, we made sure that our test pilot Tyr Goldsmith, who is only 60kg, would fly a very competitive glider, therefore reducing the differences between light and heavy pilots.
The Diva 2 has fast, responsive handling, a high top speed, excellent glide and stability at all speeds. On bar, the B riser pressure is very light, a testament to the high stability and giving it its unique feeling – after a few hours, you will not want to go back! This effect has been achieved by maximising the amount of ‘reflex’ in the shape of the aerofoil. It means you can be really confident to push full bar even in difficult situations.
While the Diva 2 remains relatively easy to fly, she is designed for experienced pilots with the glider-handling skills to match a fast and high-performance wing.

⚠️ Know Before You Fly
Match the Wing to Your Skills
-
✅ The Diva 2 is intended only for experienced EN-D-level pilots
-
✅ Requires advanced active piloting skills, especially in turbulence
-
✅ Not recommended for recently certified or low-airtime XC pilots
💡 If in doubt, train up with EN-C wings and SIV before transitioning to the Diva 2.
🌤️ Pre-Flight Risk Awareness
Analyze Conditions for High-Performance Wings
Because the Diva 2 is finely tuned for glide performance, it thrives in dynamic conditions—but those same conditions can be unforgiving. Always assess the air before launching:bgd paragliders
-
✅ Avoid flying in strong wind gradients or gusty valleys
-
✅ Check for thunderstorm activity or incoming fronts
-
✅ Prefer clear thermic conditions with defined wind direction
-
✅ Confirm top-to-bottom visibility in XC scenarios
🪂 In-Flight Safety Practices
Actively Manage Wing Behavior
The Diva 2’s aspect ratio and performance profile demand active, dynamic control inputs. Staying engaged and responsive throughout your flight is critical.
Key Habits to Follow:
-
✅ Use active piloting techniques to anticipate collapses
-
✅ Monitor pressure across both risers and brakes
-
✅ Keep hands soft and elbows bent for fast reaction time
-
✅ Apply speed bar only when air is organized and stable
-
✅ Release bar immediately if encountering turbulence
Brake Range and Stall Awareness
The Diva 2 offers responsive handling, but its stall point is closer than on lower-rated wings.
-
✅ Learn and feel your brake pressure range early during practice
-
✅ Avoid deep brakes in thermals or final approaches
-
✅ Practice wingovers and spirals progressively in controlled environments
🧯 Emergency Handling and Recovery
Predictable, But Demanding Collapse Recovery
BGD has engineered the Diva 2 with relatively predictable reactions for its class. However, fast, correct input is essential to managing collapses and spirals.
-
✅ Practice asymmetric and frontal collapse responses in SIV before regular use
-
✅ React decisively, not slowly—time matters at EN-D level
-
✅ Keep your harness in a neutral or reclined position to minimize instability
-
✅ Understand the recovery dynamics from spins, stalls, and cravats specific to high AR wings
Reserve Deployment Strategy
Although the Diva 2 has excellent glide, it’s still crucial to know when to abandon recovery attempts and throw reserve.
-
✅ If you’re in a cascade or rotation without recovery in 3–5 seconds, deploy
-
✅ Aim to throw high, early, and decisively
-
✅ Keep legs tucked and arms in for a stable reserve descent
-
✅ Practice mock deployments annually
📡 Cross-Country Flight Safety
Optimize Planning and Margin
The Diva 2 excels on long XC runs, but requires foresight. Plan your flight to maximize escape options and manage exposure:
-
✅ Always fly with multiple LZs in mind
-
✅ Avoid terrain traps like steep ridges, venturi zones, or lee-side rotors
-
✅ Monitor altitude and thermal spacing for final glides
-
✅ Stay in contact via radio when flying with others
🧭 Final Glide and Approach Safety
Don’t Let Performance Lure You In
During final glide or approach, fatigue and excitement can lead to mistakes. With the Diva 2’s high speed, judgment is crucial.
-
✅ Begin final approach with ample altitude margin
-
✅ Avoid aggressive S-turns near the ground
-
✅ Refrain from low wingovers or sharp turns on final
-
✅ Perform a stable, hands-up flare once in ground effect
✈️ Post-Flight Awareness
Even after landing, safety continues:
-
✅ Carefully check lines and canopy for snags or microtears
-
✅ Log your flight duration and conditions for trend monitoring
-
✅ Debrief with teammates or mentors for continuous learning

🧠 Fly With Purpose, Fly With Margin
Even with all the performance in the world, the smartest pilots are those who fly with margin, discipline, and foresight. The Diva 2 offers immense satisfaction—but only to pilots who respect its design and operate it with full attention and skill.
🪂 Stay current, stay humble, and always make the safe decision.
If conditions, equipment, or your state of mind aren’t aligned—wait, train, or land.
An all-out 2-liner performance machine, the Diva 2 has winning DNA and EN-D safety. Made for competition pilots and big distance hunters, she’s very fast and stable, with exceptional glide performance.
Designer’s notes of BGD Diva 2 Paraglider
The Diva 2 likes to be noticed in a crowd. Her fashion choice is bright and bold, and her silhouette stands out with her high arc and short lines. Short lines not only reduce parasitic drag, but give the pilot a really close, connected feel to the wing.b.g.d
She’s fast and racy, with a full 20cm range on the accelerator. This incredible speed range has been made possible thanks to the unprecedented level of pitch stability as a result of the short-line design and reflex aerofoils.b.g.d
You can rely on the Diva 2 to remain calm in a crisis. Her behaviour when taken outside of the normal flight envelope is exemplary. After asymmetric collapses, even accelerated, she only turns gently. Stalls are easily controllable and cravats rare. We’ve flown lots of spiral dives, and the Diva 2 recovers without input from even the deepest dives.b.g.d
