The BGD BREEZE was designed as the ideal companion for mastering the art of free flight. With its intuitive launch behavior, responsive yet forgiving controls, and smooth thermalling performance, it becomes more than just a glider—it becomes your teacher in the sky.

Because every great flight starts with strong fundamentals, this guide walks you through the key stages of developing your piloting skills—with the BREEZE as your guide.

1. Building a Strong Foundation – From Ground to Sky

Every pilot’s journey begins on the ground. The BGD BREEZE excels during early training thanks to its lightweight build and predictable inflation behavior.

Start With These Core Skills:

  • Ground Handling: Practice kiting in varying wind conditions. The BREEZE rises steadily and centers easily overhead, helping you perfect canopy control.

  • Reverse Launching: Learn how to manage your risers with precision. Because the BREEZE reacts to gentle inputs, you’ll build coordination quickly.

  • Directional Awareness: Focus on maintaining symmetry and recognizing the wing’s center point as it rises.

Because these foundational techniques reinforce safe flight habits, mastering them early builds confidence faster.

2. Launching Like a Pro – Smooth, Confident Takeoffs

One of the BGD BREEZE’s standout strengths is its takeoff behavior. It inflates progressively, stabilizes quickly, and resists overshooting—making it ideal for beginners and weekend pilots alike.

Refine Your Launch Techniques:

  • Assess Wind and Terrain: Pick launch sites that match your skill level.

  • Control Risers Smoothly: Let the wing do the work. The BREEZE requires very little correction if set up correctly.

  • Visual Check Overhead: Always confirm symmetry before committing to launch.

Because the wing rises predictably in both forward and reverse launches, your transition from ground to air becomes seamless.

3. Navigating the Sky – Steering with Skill

Once airborne, the BGD BREEZE delivers a delightfully balanced ride. Its brake response is clean and precise, yet not overly sensitive—allowing you to develop finesse gradually.

Master These Mid-Flight Skills:

  • Turn Coordination: Practice using weight shift and brake input together. The BREEZE banks smoothly, making it easy to hold a coordinated turn.

  • Thermalling Basics: Focus on finding smooth lift and centering it. The BREEZE climbs efficiently without diving or pitching.

  • Pitch and Roll Management: Learn how to dampen oscillations with minimal effort. The wing’s natural stability teaches you timing and touch.

Because the glider rewards active piloting while remaining forgiving, you’ll gain control skills without fear of overcorrection.

4. Understanding Air Behavior – Reading the Invisible

To truly master flight, you need to understand the air itself. With its excellent feedback, the BGD BREEZE helps you sense lift, turbulence, and transitions more clearly.

Practice Reading the Sky:

  • Feel the Brake Pressure: Changes often signal air mass behavior—such as entering lift or sinking zones.

  • Watch the Wing Tips: Subtle movements can indicate thermal cores or rotor edges.

  • Adapt to Conditions: Adjust your inputs depending on the thermal strength, wind, and terrain.

Because the BREEZE communicates without being noisy, you develop sky-reading skills naturally and enjoyably.

5. Perfecting Landings – Ending Gracefully Every Time

Great flights always finish with good landings. With the BGD BREEZE, final approach becomes a controlled, relaxed experience. Flare authority is progressive, allowing smooth touchdowns—even in changing wind.

Sharpen Your Landing Game:

  • Plan Early: Use clear patterns (downwind–base–final) to reduce stress.

  • Monitor Sink Rate: The BREEZE glides well, so practice your timing to avoid overshooting.

  • Flare Gradually: Start the flare high enough and finish assertively for soft landings.

Because the glider rewards precision, you’ll learn to land like a pro—regardless of the conditions.

6. Advancing Your Skills – Go Beyond the Basics

Once you’ve mastered takeoffs, flight control, and landings, the BGD BREEZE remains your ideal learning partner. Its performance ceiling is high enough for pilots to explore new disciplines safely.

Explore These Intermediate Challenges:

  • Thermic Cross-Country (XC): Use the BREEZE’s glide and climb characteristics to stretch your flights beyond the ridge.

  • SIV Training: While not an acro wing, the BREEZE’s passive safety makes it suitable for controlled maneuvers in a course setting.

  • Top Landing & Spot Targeting: Refine precision with gradual brake application and awareness of glide paths.

Because the BREEZE doesn’t force you to rush, you can grow at your own pace—with confidence at every altitude.

Your Journey with the BREEZE Begins Here

The BGD BREEZE isn’t just a wing—it’s a mentor in fabric form. It teaches through experience, encourages without pressure, and evolves with you as your skills deepen. Whether you’re learning your first reverse launch or catching your first thermal climb, the BREEZE supports every milestone.

So, take your time, enjoy the process, and remember: every great pilot once stood where you are now.

Master the sky. Master your skills. Master it all—with the BGD BREEZE. 🪂

🛡️ Safety Guide for Flying the BGD BREEZE

Prioritize Safety, Maximize Enjoyment

Because paragliding is an adventure sport that blends nature and flight, safety must always come first. The BGD BREEZE was crafted with inherent stability and passive safety in mind. However, even with a highly forgiving wing, responsible flying habits remain essential.

Below is your comprehensive safety guide tailored specifically for BREEZE pilots—whether you’re fresh from flight school or returning to the skies after time away.

1. Pre-Flight Checklist – Don’t Skip a Step

Before launching, you should always perform a full pre-flight inspection. Even though the BREEZE is built with high-quality Porcher fabric and durable lines, routine checks protect you from unexpected issues.

Inspect the Following Before Every Flight:

  • Lines and Risers – Check for tangles, knots, and wear

  • Canopy – Ensure no rips, damage, or material fatigue

  • Harness Connections – Confirm secure carabiner locks

  • Reserve Parachute Handle – Make sure it’s visible and accessible

  • Wing Layout – Spread the glider completely to avoid asymmetric inflation

  • Wind Conditions – Analyze direction, strength, and gust patterns

Because thorough preparation helps you fly with confidence, make this checklist part of your ritual every time.

2. Launch Safety – Calm, Controlled, Clear

The BGD BREEZE has excellent inflation characteristics, making launch safer in both nil-wind and moderate breeze conditions. However, even the best glider requires thoughtful technique.

Follow These Launch Best Practices:

  • Face into the wind with a symmetrical layout

  • Use gentle yet firm pressure on the risers—let the wing rise on its own

  • Check overhead alignment before stepping off

  • Abort if unstable—never rush into takeoff

Because clean launches lead to clean flights, take the time to correct anything that feels off.

3. In-Flight Awareness – Stay Focused, Stay Safe

While in the air, the BGD BREEZE offers excellent feedback without overwhelming the pilot. Still, active piloting techniques should be developed early, especially in thermic or variable conditions.

Remember These In-Flight Safety Tips:

  • Keep your hands ready to dampen pitch with timely brake input

  • Avoid deep brake pressure near stall speed—use gradual movements

  • Scan your airspace regularly for traffic, birds, or changing clouds

  • Maintain a mental map of escape options and landing zones

  • Don’t overfly your limits—if unsure, choose the safer option

Because awareness increases reaction time, consistent scanning and calm decision-making are key.

4. Landing Strategies – Finish Every Flight Safely

As you prepare to land, focus on stability and space. The BGD BREEZE makes final approaches simple, but wind shifts and ground obstacles can still surprise you.

Safe Landing Requires These Key Steps:

  • Establish a downwind-base-final approach pattern

  • Avoid low turns that reduce altitude margins

  • Flare gradually with progressive braking—don’t slam

  • Use smooth input to prevent last-minute oscillations

  • Land in clear, open spaces away from wires, trees, or crowds

Because every successful flight ends with a safe landing, never get complacent—even when the field looks familiar.

5. Weather Awareness – Read the Sky

Though the BREEZE is forgiving in active air, understanding your environment remains essential. Flying into thermic turbulence or changing wind patterns without preparation can put any pilot at risk.

Respect These Weather Considerations:

  • Check forecasts before heading out—monitor updates during flight

  • Watch cloud development—cumulus buildup signals strong lift

  • Avoid midday turbulence if you’re early in your progression

  • Never launch in gust fronts or rapidly shifting winds

Because conditions shift quickly, being weather-wise makes you a safer, more adaptive pilot.

6. Gear Maintenance – Your Life Depends on It

Even the most stable wing can’t save you from worn lines or a neglected harness. The BGD BREEZE is durable, but all gear needs care.

Keep Your Equipment in Top Condition:

  • Inspect lines monthly or after hard landings

  • Store your glider dry and out of direct sunlight

  • Keep sand and debris away from zippers, risers, and harness webbing

  • Schedule annual inspections with a certified service center

Because proactive care extends both performance and lifespan, treat your equipment with respect.

7. Training Never Stops – Continue to Learn

Even with a wing as friendly as the BREEZE, progression requires ongoing education. Advanced courses, SIV training, and flight log reviews all contribute to a more prepared and confident pilot.

Continue Your Growth With These Steps:

  • Join a local club and participate in group flying days

  • Log every flight—include conditions and lessons learned

  • Pursue further certifications to unlock new flying environments

  • Fly with mentors—their guidance helps shape your safety instincts

Because knowledge multiplies safety, stay curious and committed to lifelong learning.

Final Safety Thoughts

Although the BGD BREEZE is engineered to support your journey with stability, forgiveness, and exceptional design, you are still the pilot in command. Safe habits, constant awareness, and preparation are the foundations of every great flight.

So, breathe deep, trust your training, and fly responsibly. Because the sky is always more beautiful when you return to tell the story.

🪂 Fly smart. Fly safe. Fly the BGD BREEZE.

Why Choose the BGD BREEZE?

1. Safety Meets Simplicity

Tech

2.5-Liner

The 2.5-line design not only reduces line drag significantly, but also gives an incredible feeling of two-liner pitch control on the rear risers.

Target

A lightweight EN-B, the BREEZE is a safe and performant glider for intermediate pilots with a love of hiking and adventure. It has all the design features, glide and stability advantages of the BASE 3, in a 25% lighter package, weighing just 3.3kg in the XS.

Designer’s notes of BGD BREEZE Paraglider

Weighing 3.3kg to 3.9kg across the four sizes, the BREEZE is significantly lighter than the BASE 3. We used Porcher Skytex 27 cloth on both top and bottom surfaces, chosen for its light weight and proven longevity. 32g/m2 cloth on the leading edge adds durability in high-wear areas.

It is a 2.5-liner design: 3 line levels in the centre, two at the tips. The advantages of this are reduced line drag compared to a 3-liner, further emphasised by the choice of unsheathed Edelrid Magix Pro Dry lines. It also has a really nice two-liner feel when using the B/C steering.

The BREEZE has BGD Performance Project traits of a high arc, short lines, tapered shape and raked wingtips. Together these increase performance without compromising safety. It has the same excellent slow-speed behaviour as the BASE 3, which makes it a breeze (pun intended!) to top-land. The winglets ensure easy exit from a spiral dive.

The BGD BREEZE is crafted for a wide range of pilots. It’s ideal for beginners who have completed training and want a glider that offers confidence without complexity. It’s also perfect for leisure pilots who fly occasionally but value passive safety, as well as returning pilots looking for a reliable wing to restart their journey.

Because the BREEZE balances performance and security, it suits anyone prioritizing comfort, control, and enjoyment over competition-grade speed.

2. Is the BREEZE an EN-A or EN-B wing?

The BGD BREEZE is an EN-B certified glider. However, its flying characteristics feel much closer to the upper end of the EN-A class—especially when flown conservatively within the certified weight range. It delivers more performance than typical entry-level wings while still offering excellent pitch stability, collapse resistance, and forgiveness in turbulence.

Because it’s so well-behaved, many instructors even recommend it as a pilot’s first “forever wing.”

3. How easy is it to launch the BREEZE in light wind conditions?

Extremely easy. The BREEZE inflates progressively and rises overhead without the tendency to overshoot. Even in near-zero wind, the glider maintains excellent ground handling characteristics. Forward or reverse, it gives the pilot time to react, realign, and correct without pressure.

Because it’s lightweight and responsive, many find it to be one of the most launch-friendly wings in its class.

4. How does it handle thermals and soaring flights?

The BGD BREEZE excels in gentle to moderate thermals. It bites into lift naturally and climbs with efficiency. Turns feel smooth and coordinated, allowing you to easily center and ride thermals. The glider doesn’t dive or shoot, which allows pilots to maintain control while gaining altitude with grace.

Because of its low aspect ratio and balanced roll response, it feels intuitive when thermalling—especially for developing pilots.

5. Can I use the BREEZE for cross-country (XC) flights?

Yes, absolutely. While it’s not designed for high-level racing or long-haul competition flights, the BREEZE has solid glide performance and excellent sink rate for its category.
